Frost N’ Fog

Early Saturday morning set off with the roadies, Nick, Jeff, Baxter and Kenny to do their City loop.

As most locals would know the fog had set in thick over Auckland on Saturday closing roads and restricting airport take off and landings.

What a better day to head out and around the airport…

Unable to see 50 ft in front of us and covered in frost, an enjoyable morning was had.

This loop clocks in at just on 75k’s, around the water front out east, out south, airport an back city bound, not an overly demanding ride on the elevation front making it good for me who is the only one left on a track bike!

CGK X DT

Dame Truth’s fearless leader Richard was up in Auckland this weekend attending a studious design conference Kenny and I managed to convince him to bring his rig and come ride the evenings of his stay. Unfortunately Aucklands weather got the best of us as per usual and we only managed to get a sneaky spin in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Dame Truth’s razzle dazzle inspired kit got a few odd looks on the old Tamaki Time Trial.

The roads were pretty wet and us locals found it rather cold, but Richard from Wellington felt no cold even sans warmers, tough guy.

Sorry about the weather, lets plan a trip to Wellington in summer! (which is probably like Aucklands winter) #intercityweatherbeef

Rain Rain Rain

Love riding early in the morning in the rain, cant beat it! Damp.

Everywhere; moist.

Kenny and I rounded off a little 30km loop as the rain just wouldn’t stop failing.

And as per usual it stopped as I got home and the glorious sun came out to shine on beloved Auckland.

Winter is on its way people, keep spinning.

Going Going, Back Back

From a home to a home.

After having to drop some stuff out south I decided we should make a little ride out of it, after wunderground.com was saying that the weather was gonna be okay, it wasn’t.

But, a super fun ride non the less with good old Auckland weather, down pour rain, hot sun, wind and a dabble more rain.

David making friends with some wild life that was enjoying the rain more than us…

Video should be online soon.

Fluids stop            /make some calls like a boss time! (in front of an oddly uninhabited house)

And just a bunch of good old spinnin’ home…

Casual 50km’s, much more fun in the rain!

Easter Sunday

Kenny, Duncan and I headed off from our usual meet up at Vodafone at the waterfront round the bays, back via Parnell and through to Ponsonby/Herne Bay. Amazing weather for riding this Easter weekend, caught up with the roadie contingent as they headed out to the airport via the eastern bays.

Found Nick, Baxter and Jeff around Okahu Bay.

Duncan running the Resurrection t-shirt from last years Easter weekend track event, RIP.

After having a random roadie ask us, “hey guys, are you doing a peloton?” we figured maybe we should and got aero as fuck on the way back.

Duncan got his Mannie Fresh on when he spotted these “real big” rims or “rimz” should I say.

Boom! Killer snacks on Jervois at Zus & Zo

T. Whites Everyday Day Bikes

Tim opened the doors to Every Day Bikes on Thursday night, a new store for an ever growing population of ‘everyday’ cyclists in Auckland.

Focusing more on providing sales and service for the commuter/town rider which Auckland until now didn’t really have.

This is awesome for the old T. Whites store (next door) opening up more space and ability  to focus on the BMX and fixed gear parts and service that made them the store we all know and love.

Tim has gone from strength to strength in the last few years now running three unique bike stores in Auckland, from the OG T. Whites for us fixed riders (and BMX), The 2nd Hand Bike Shop for those into the reduce, reuse, recycle tip and now T. Whites Everyday Bikes.

More info and contact at this stage can be made through twhitesbikes.co.nz
